A follow up to the masonry load-bearing addition to the city museum by Le Corbusier in Ahmedabad, India. This project involved an identical program for addition, but this time required using a frame structure. My approach to this addition was quite different than the last. I chose to intentionally ignore any of my own instincts as to the value of the existing building and instead chose to look only at the value of the new facility for the city. It was designed using the existing structure, expanding that, and enclosing the entire building in a louvered, double-layered glass envelope. A display system of movable glass panels was designed to allow social, cultural, and historical exhibits about the city to be displayed with the city itself serving as a background.
Was chosen for a 2007 exhibition at the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) in Ahmedabad, India.
